Boutique Fairfield County Family & Matrimonial Law Firm Schoonmaker, George, Colin, Bryniczka, & Welsh, P.C. Celebrates 25th Anniversary
Schoonmaker George Colin Blomberg Bryniczka & Welsh P.C., one of the oldest family and matrimonial law firms in Connecticut, was founded on April 1, 1996. Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, the firm attributes its longevity and institutional success to the commitment and dedication to its clients and mentoring young lawyers who have become well known leaders of the firm and Connecticut Bar. The firm is now in its fourth generation of attorneys, many of whom have held leadership positions in national, state and local bar associations, as well as in the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
The boutique firm has been involved in some of the most significant, high-profile, complex financial and child custody matters in state history. “The firm was built on a foundation of providing high quality individualized professional and legal services in a sensitive and compassionate manner. The firm will negotiate a resolution whenever possible and litigate when necessary,” said Jill H. Blomberg, Co-Managing Partner. This includes in matters of divorce, child custody, post-divorce modification and enforcement proceedings, and the creation of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. The firm also has a robust Alternative Dispute Resolution practice led by Co-Managing and Founding Partner, Judge Thomas D. Colin (Ret.), who conducts both private mediations and binding arbitrations. “This streamlined, confidential, out-of-court process has been particularly valuable to the public and bar during the pandemic.”
The firm consists of seasoned attorneys, skilled negotiators, experienced trial lawyers, and a staff of experienced paralegals and legal assistants. This includes five named partners: Cynthia C. George, Judge Colin, Jill Blomberg, Peter Brynizcka and Aidan Welsh, who bring over 125 years of legal experience and handle matters statewide. “All of the partners have been members of the firm since it opened or since the beginning of their careers. The commitment of the associate attorneys and firm staff are the backbone of the firm’s ability to serve our clients and their families for a quarter century,” said Founding Partner Cynthia George.
